Greater Manchester World Cup Campaign
Independent Choices were pleased to be part of the Greater Manchester Campaign during the World Cup 2010. We ran the helpline for extra hours during the critical period and trained helpline volunteers to deal with a potential increase and variation in calls. The campaign was launched on 7th June 2010 and called on the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester to be more active in the aim of Ending the fear of domestic abuse. It had three key messages :
- Reporting helps - it helps identify the problem for the victim and enables both victim and perpetrator to gain access to support or help.
- There are services locally that want to help (ie: Helplines, Women’s Aid, Police, health professionals, IDVA, DA Co-ordinators, Victim support, DV Units, Respect, Relate, Probation.)
- The region of Greater Manchester is working together to reduce and stop domestic abuse
